General Questions

  • Q. If I submit a poem and it is not accepted, will I hear back from you?
    A. Yes.

  • Q. Will the Editor automatically spellcheck my submission?
    A. Yes.

  • Q. What if my misspellings, punctuation "errors," etc., are intentional and I don't want them fixed?
    A.
Please alert the editor in a note with your submission about any spelling, syntax, punctuation, grammar, word usage , etc., that is intentional but might ordinarily be read as an error or typo.

Copyright Issues

  • Q. If a prose poem is published on this website, does this count as being “published”?
    A. Yes. When a work of art is made available for a general audience, it is considered "published" and you would not be able to claim any longer that this is an unpublished work.

  • Q. If my prose poem is posted/printed, do I hold the copyright, or does Equinox Publishing?
    A. The creator of the poem holds the copyright.

  • Q. Who holds the copyright in the annually published anthology?
    A. Each individual author.

  • Will the anthology be sold on Amazon and other such “bookstores”?
    A. The anthologies will be available on this website and yes, on such bookstores that are a "storefront" for "self-published" books, such as Amazon.

  • What does copyright protect?
Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed.

  • When is my work protected?
Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form so that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.
